Culture North East: Board Recruitment

Culture North East (CNE) is inviting applications from individuals who want to play an active role in shaping the future of culture across North East of Scotland region. Building on the foundations of Culture Aberdeen, established in 2018, CNE reflects a shift towards regional collaboration and a more connected cultural ecology. We are working across Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire to strengthen relationships, support our members, and position the region as a place where culture is valued, visible, and sustainable. CNE is a company limited by guarantee and operates as a social enterprise. Our work recognises culture as a key driver of community wellbeing, economic development, and social connection. We focus on creating the conditions for organisations to collaborate, grow, and demonstrate their impact across the region.

About the Board

As a Board Member, you will contribute to the strategic direction, governance, and long-term development of Culture North East. The Board provides oversight across areas including:

  • Strategic planning and organisational development

  • Financial governance and sustainability

  • Advocacy for the cultural sector

  • Strengthening regional partnerships

  • Ensuring inclusive and representative decision making

We are particularly interested in hearing from individuals with experience in areas such as cultural leadership, strategic planning and regional development, governance and legal, marketing and communication, community engagement. A strong understanding of the North East context would be valuable, alongside a commitment to collaboration and shared progress. This is an opportunity to shape a growing organisation at a pivotal moment, as we embed our regional identity and expand our work with members and partners.

What You Will Contribute

  • Support the strategic ambitions of Culture North East

  • Bring insight, challenge, and constructive thinking to Board discussions

  • Act as an advocate for culture within their networks

  • Help strengthen connections across the region
